Jehovah’s Witnesses in Nigeria has urged Nigerians to imitate the life of Jesus in true worship to God
“Attendees were shown how to worship God acceptably by imitating the life of Jesus,” Jahswill Stephen, spokesman for Jehovah’s Witnesses, stated during the 2025 Pure Worship Convention in French Language held recently in Lekki, Lagos.
According to Stephen, attendees came from 10 French language congregations of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Nigeria, from Abuja, Port Harcourt, Ota, and Ofiki, Oyo State. He disclosed that about 500 delegates gathered at the Assembly Hall Complex, Ajibona, Lekki, Lagos for the annual convention.
According to him, a major highlight of the convention program was episodes 2 & 3 of the movie – Goodnews according to Jesus, featuring certain key events in the life of Jesus during his time on the earth.

Stephen disclosed that episode 1 of the movie premiered at the 2024 ‘Declare the Goodnews Convention’ of Jehovah’s Witnesses, while episodes 4, 5 and 6 will be made are available from the 2026 convention series.
He stated that the annual conventions, in addition to bringing thousands of worshipers together, also has a positive impact on the local economy through transportation, hospitality and trade and tourism.
According to him, this year’s program featured several Bible-based presentations, including lectures on ‘What is pure worship? ‘Who really rules the world? ‘What are you looking for? and ‘Do you worship what you know?’
He disclosed that the talks answered questions that spiritually inclined individuals have asked over the centuries and helped delegates connect present world events to God’s purpose for the future. “They also addressed key takeaways from Jesus’ interactions with the people of his day.”
Also, several symposia were presented on topics like ‘Messianic prophecies fulfilled,’ ‘Imitate Jesus’ responses to the tempter,’ ‘Lessons from the land of Jesus,’ and ‘Applying the lessons from Jesus’ first miracle.’
Each part of the symposia focused on specific lessons from Jesus’ life and ministry and their modern application for daily living, work and worship.

“I make plans to attend this convention every year – I’m always thrilled and excited to see new ones, brothers and sisters from different parts of the country and neighbours who share the same faith and hope with me.
“I love the drama in this convention because it clears a lot of misconceptions about Jesus Christ is and helps us to understand that knowing the truth about who Jesus Christ is will help us worship God the right way and I’m eager to use this in the ministry,” Elizabeth Standard, a convention delegate, stated.
Jehovah’s Witnesses are the biggest religious convention organisers in the world, holding their annual convention in over 500 languages in more than 240 lands. The Witnesses recently harmonised their convention calendar for Nigeria and other West African countries to align with that of their northern hemisphere fellow worshippers. In Nigeria, the convention series continues in English language and other local languages in major Nigerian cities.
