Inter Milan have set a 10-day deadline to complete the signing of Nigerian winger Ademola Lookman from Serie A rivals Atalanta.
According to Football Italia, Nerazzurri’s sporting director, Piero Ausilio, confirmed that an official offer has been tabled for the Europa League hero but warned that Inter will not engage in prolonged negotiations.
“We’ve made an offer for Lookman and know he wants the move, but we won’t drag this out. We want it resolved within the next 10 days,” Ausilio said.
Lookman, who has already agreed to personal terms with Inter, is reportedly eager to join the reigning Italian champions after a stellar 2023/24 season with Atalanta.
The 26-year-old played a crucial role in the Bergamo club’s Europa League triumph, including a historic hat-trick in the final against Bayer Leverkusen.
Inter have submitted an initial €40 million bid, but Atalanta are holding out for €50 million and are unwilling to negotiate below that figure. Sources close to the deal suggest Inter are considering an improved offer of €45 million plus €5 million in performance-related add-ons to meet the valuation.
Despite a recent injury setback, Lookman remains keen on the move. Inter are determined to get the deal done swiftly to allow new manager Cristian Chivu to integrate the attacker into his preseason plans without delay.
Having watched a similar saga drag on last summer with Teun Koopmeiners, Inter are adamant there will be no repeat. All efforts are now geared toward finalising the transfer before the self-imposed 10-day window closes.
If successful, Lookman’s move would be one of the standout transfers of the Serie A summer window and a significant boost to Inter’s attacking options for the upcoming season.
