The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has express it’s readiness to conduct a free, fair and credible Bye-Election for Karim-Lamido 1 state constituency, in the northern part of Taraba state.
The by-election is to feel in the vacuum created by the resignation of Mike Dio Jen, former member of the state house of assembly representating the constituents who recently dumped the elective position to pick the position of the state’s commissioner for tertiary institution under the cabinet of Governor Agbu Kefas, Taraba state governor.
The election empire (INEC) has already distributed sensitive and non sensitive materials for the Saturday’s bye election to all the Registration Areas in Karim-Lamido 1 constituency as learnt by BusinessDay in Jalingo.
Our correspondent reliably gathered that the distribution exercise took place at INEC office in Jalingo, Taraba State capital and was subsequently finalised at the headquarters of Karim-Lamid local government council.

Speaking with journalist before the distribution of the materials, Umar Muktar Gajiram, INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) For Taraba State, assured the people of Karim-Lamido of free, fair and credible polls.
He said all parties have been giving a clear playing ground despite the fact that it is only five political parties that feel in candidates for the bye-election.
Gajiram, call on the people from the area not to panic since government have provided optimum security to guide and protect the process.
Commenting on the process some political parties agent, Sadiq Nuhu Mbulo, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP); Stephen Othaniel, the All Progressive Congress (APC), and Hassan Adamu, Africa Democratic Party (ADC) appreciated the smooth process of the distribution exercise.
Both agents pledged good conducts of their supporters to ensure success of the bye election.
