…unveils Vicar Hope Foundation
Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu has promised to support the establishment of a diagnostic centre for Sickle Cell Anaemia and Genotype and Skill Acquisition Centre being proposed by the Vicar Hope Foundation, a pet project of his wife, Nkechi Ikpeazu.
Unveiling the project at the International Conference Centre, Umuahia, Governor Ikpeazu also promised to provide a well-equipped vehicle that would assist the diagnostic centre to reach out to pupils and students in schools.
He encouraged his wife to continue in her efforts to help the indigent and less-privileged people in the society; and appealed to well-meaning individuals in the society to join hands to break the shackles of sickle cell anaemia, and thanked God for the opportunity granted the wife to serve Abia this time.
Nkechi Rochas Okorocha, wife of Imo State governor and chairperson of Southern Governors’ Wives Forum, described the wife of Abia State Governor as a good and sincere woman, who has volunteered to support her husband to improve the wellbeing of women and children in the State.
She explained that one of the objectives of the Southern Governors’ Wives’ Forum was to support their husbands in assisting the less-privileged individuals and appreciated the pet project of Nkechi Ikpeazu.
Odinaka Igwe, chief operating officer (COO) of Chrisnak group of companies, who was the chairman of the occasion, observed that the wife of Abia State Governor has channeled her passion to the betterment of Abia people, by mobilizing to fight cancer and other diseases, as well as providing shelter for the homeless, food for school children, among other assistances to vulnerable individuals.
Igwe stated that the promotion of good health should be the basis for better Abia; and stressed the need for all to be part of the noble project of placing food on the table of children, less-privileged individuals, widows, among others.
He maintained that the project is aimed at developing Abia State, and called on all Abians to support the present administration in the State; noting that Ikpeazu was doing well.
Nnenna Chikezie, chairman, organising committee of the programme and permanent secretary in Ministry of Women Affairs, disclosed that Vicar Hope Foundation was born out of a heartfelt desire of the wife of Abia State Governor to touch lives and provide for the needy and vulnerable ones.
She informed that the foundation has completed many projects and given hope to the hopeless; adding that it will establish Sickle Cell Anaemia Centre in the State. She called on all to support the project, as it would help in women empowerment, child development, among others.
