Former Project Fame winner, Chidinma Ekile has recounted a true life experience she had recently where she almost ended her life during a spiritual exercise.
The now gospel musician told a congregation who were mostly youngsters how the Devil urged her to end her life by jumping from a cliff.
“I want to share a bit of my story. I went to the mountain. I am not Jesus but I fasted for 40 days. I lost a lot of weight. Trust me, that experience was something I never imagined. I came back from the US and went straight into the bush. I literarily slept on one side till I was done. I cried, I sang, I prayed. I never believed that God speaks to people. It was too real. He said too many things. I want to share a bit of my story.
“While, I was the mountain, the enemy tried to take me out of there before my time. It was as if I was in the theatre and God was taking out some things in me and putting some. He broke me. We all like good things but material things don’t push me. I have seen it all. I have had the best I could have had. But He gave something different. He gave me something special and different. He broke me into shreds. He is not looking for perfect or strong people.”
Chidinma said it was during that episode that she heard a voice that told her to jump from the cliff of the mountain.
“The enemy tried to take me out of there before my surgery was done. He took me to the cliff, to the very top of the mountain. I was standing right there and he said to me to jump. The voice came again and again for me to jump. The voice was strong. The enemy had seen what the Lord was going to do in my life. He wanted to abort the mission in my life.”
Chidinma said she almost heeded to that voice but something stopped her.
“I was going to jump but I stretched my hand and I felt a barricade that wasn’t there before. Something was just there. There was no way I could jump. I was just crying. Then, the songs started coming to me. I kept hearing the songs. I didn’t know people could get songs like that. God broke protocol for me. I could have lost my life. I would have been in hell fire gnashing my teeth.
“God had mercy. He showered me with so much love like I have never known. I am at peace. I feel so much peace inside of me. Peace that I never had. I did all I had to do but I wasn’t fulfilled. I was struggling with my spirit. I wanted to move but I didn’t know how. But Jesus is king.”
She used the opportunity to encourage the congregation never to give up in life, no matter the challenge they are facing.
“I don’t care about your addiction. A lot of you are battling with a lot of things in their secret places. I understand. I have been there.”
