Hygeia HMO Limited, one of Nigeria’s health management organisation, is targeting improved service delivery for enrollees through an all-inclusive capacity building for its service providers nationwide.
This again is a demonstrated of its commitment to its various stakeholders by organisising an all-day training programme for employees of hospitals, clinics and other healthcare providers on its network.
The event, which took place at the Lagos Airport Hotel, Ikeja, had in attendance about 150 HMO liaison officers, front office executives, administrative staff, and other key staff from hospitals, clinics, maternity homes and other healthcare providers on Hygeia HMO’s network spread across Lagos State. The event also had in attendance the representative of the zonal coordinator of National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).
According to Harrison Okafor, head, medical services of the organisation, the training was organised to create a platform for a one-on-one engagement with the healthcare providers and educate them on the company’s newly introduced products, update them on some changes in the Hygeia HMO care management processes, as well as take them through some fundamentals on how to collaborate better work in delivering seamless, prompt and quality healthcare to Hygeia HMO’s teeming enrollees.

In his words: “The providers are very important to us and we hold them in very high esteem; they are the channels through which our promises to enrollees are delivered; there is therefore the need for us to continually engage them; update them on new developments at our end, get feedbacks from them and on the overall ensure continuous cordial relationship with them.”
Ramesh Kurup, managing director of Hygeia HMO, said this event was not a one off, “it is something we do from time to time and which we will continue because we understand and place a high premium on the relationship we have with our healthcare providers and other stakeholders.
“We are the link between the health care providers and the enrollees; we manage the processes while the providers deliver the healthcare; the importance of the providers in the chain can therefore not be over-emphasised. This explains why we are not restricting the training to providers in Lagos, as we will be having this same training in all our regional locations across Nigeria in the next few weeks.”
