How Dangote cement promo turned a local builder to car owner
The joy of 32-year old Timothy Makinde, a local builder resident in Abeokuta, Ogun state capital knew no bounds when he was declared the 23rd winner of a new brand GAC Saloon car, having bought 10 bags of Dangote cement.
Makinde, who does not know how to drive yet, said that he had bought 10 bags of Dangote Cement in Abeokuta for menial construction with an intention to win consolation prizes in the ongoing Dangote Cement Bag of Goodies Promo, but to his surprise he found a coupon which indicated he had won a new brand GAC Saloon car.
This development prompted Makinde to visit Dangote Cement redemption centre where the news was confirmed to him as a proud winner of car in Dangote Cement Bag of Goodies and got assurance that the vehicle would be presented to him at a later date.
BusinessDay reports that the star prize winner was close to tears when the key of the car was handed to him as he was overwhelmed by emotion, saying the prize of a car was to good for him to believe as the presentation was like a dream to him.
He said, “for somebody like me without a motorcycle now a proud owner of a car, not just any car a new brand one. I can’t explain this. Just ten bags of cement to level a house. In fact the man I worked for who made me to buy the cement has not even paid me for the job done.”
Meanwhile, it was a harvest of prizes in Abeokuta on Tuesday when 31 consumers were presented with refrigerators, television sets, tricycle and a saloon car in the ongoing Dangote Cement Bag of Goodies promotion that was witnessed and coordinated by the National Lottery Regulatory Commission (NLRC).
The National Lottery Regulatory Commission (NLRC) which was represented by its Coordinator, Fasuhanmi Omotayo, said that the commission had so far been impressed with the promo, just as he lauded the management of Dangote Cement for its move to reward its loyal consumers.
Dangote Cement Regional Sales Director, Tunde Mabogunje, said the promo was borne out of the company desire to economically empower all its customers along the value chain and that the current promo was targeted at empowering its consumers.
“Because it is meant to empower them that is why we carefully choose the prizes. We have cars, tricycles, motorcycles, refrigerators and television sets, all these have economic value”, Mabogunje said.
Also, Head, Dangote Cement Route to Market, Kayode Akin-Bamidele said 23 cars had so far been won and they remain 20 to go with some tricycles, motorcycles, television sets, refrigerators and millions of credit cards of various telecom networks in the promo that ends on September 30.
He however expressed appreciation to consumers for their patronage of Dangote Cement, saying the promo was the biggest ever in the country by any companies and that such humongous promo value could only be done by Dangote Cement.
Apart from winning prizes when buying Dangote Cement, Akin-Bamidele said the consumer would also be buying the best quality cement at the most affordable prices while urging the consumers to spread the news to others.
