Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa has urged newly appointed commissioners in the state to hit the ground running saying the people of the state expect nothing but the best from the government having been entrusted with an overwhelming mandate.
According to him, “we must strive to deliver on all our electioneering promises, and your appointments or upgrading as commissioners are a testimony to your capabilities and outstanding attainments in your private endeavours and the public service. I have the confidence that you will make meaningful contributions to statecraft with a view to delivering dividends of good governance to our people in the Sunshine State.”

Aiyedatiwa, who disclosed this on Monday in Akure during the swearing-in ceremony of the newly appointed commissioners held at the International Centre for Culture and Events (The Dome), therefore, reiterated that his administration was in a hurry to put in place policies and programmes for the all-round development of the state.
“I therefore, behoves you to discharge the duties and responsibilities of your office with integrity, patriotism, bearing in mind always, the collective interest of the people. As appointees of government, you must also foster a cordial working relationship with the bureaucracy in your various Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs). You must respect due process and work together with your Accounting Officers and other top government functionaries towards ensuring that we deliver on our promise of providing dividends of good governance to our people,” he said.
BusinessDay reports that the newly appointed commissioners are: Idowu Ajanaku, Adewale Akinlosotu, Igbekele Ajibefun (former VC of the Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko), Ayorinde Abiola Olawoye, Ayodele Akande, Alabi Johnson and Amidu Takuro.

While cautioning the family members, friends and associates of the newly appointed commissioners not to put pressure on them by soliciting for unnecessary favours, Aiyedatiwa however, said; “they must refrain from promoting sectional interests, as their constituencies are not limited to specific area: the entire State is their responsibility.”
The governor said further; “as you settle down to your new roles, I encourage you to familiarise yourself with our Development Policy Thrust, “OUR EASE.” Our covenant with the people of Ondo State is encapsulated in this 7-point agenda. “There is no gainsaying that security of lives and property is of utmost priority. We have been collaborating with the Federal Government and security agencies to ensure that Ondo State remains one of the most peaceful and secure in the country. We have had successful operations against kidnapping, banditry and other security threats and we are committed to maintaining the peace in Ondo State. At the last Executive Council Meeting, we approved a Bill for stiffer penalties including death sentence, against kidnappers and abductors to be forwarded to the House of Assembly. We will continue to provide regular logistical supports for our security agencies with a view to keeping our State safe. As a testament to this commitment, we recently distributed, yet another 50 Special High Grade Hilux vehicles to the security agencies in the State.
“Finally, my dear good people of Ondo State, our administration is committed to integrity, transparency, accountability and excellent service. We enjoin the new appointees to key fully into these values towards developing a more virile and prosperous Ondo State where our every individual can find fulfilment,” he said.
