The governors of the 36 state of the federation on Thursday urged President Buhari to handover some of the federal roads to them for speedy rehabilitation
This was part of the outcomes of the National Economic Council meeting presided over by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Briefing State House Correspondents after the six-hour meeting, Ebonyi State Governor Dave Umahi alongside Kwara State Governor Abdulfatai Ahmed, said the Council was quite concerned about the poor state of federal roads.
The Ebonyi governor said states were making this plea having come to the conclusion that the federal government does not have the funds to fix the nation’s deplorable roads.
Ahmed on his part argued states could fix the roads through a Public-Private Partnership arrangement eventhough most of them are faced with huge cash challenges and can hardly pay salaries.
