Nigeria’s next generation network and sponsor of the 2017 African Foods & Products Conference organised by the Nigerian-American Chamber of Commerce, Globacom has described Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) as the backbone of the economy of leading nations in the world, contributing positively to their development across all sectors.
The company at the two-day event held recently themed Unlocking Market Opportunities for Global Competitiveness also reiterated its commitment to the growth of SMEs in the country through the deployment of its cutting-edge products and services.
In its presentation at the conference, Globacom said SMEs drive technological change and growth in productivity describing them as “real catalyst in private sector’s development.”
Tega Agofure of Glo Business Solutions stated in a presentation at the conference that 90 percent of the manufacturing and industrial sector in the country falls under SMEs, adding that the International Finance Corporation has also affirmed that 96 per cent of total businesses in Nigeria are driven by the SME sector.
He explained that SME Flexi is one of the company’s cutting-edge solutions that can assist the growth of SMEs in Nigeria. He noted that the company would soon energise other core business solutions that will engender revolution in the SME sector.
Agofure described Glo SME Flexi as one-of-its-kind integrated plan ‘with unmatched value’ that gives users the flexibility to call and use the internet without having to separately buy data bundles. According to him, the package is available in various denominations to suit the wallet of the SMEs.
The package includes “SME Flexi 500, SME Flexi 1000 and SME Flexi 2000,” he explained, adding that each of these denominations gives its users specific talk time and certain number of bytes for data use.
Glo SME Flexi gives you the flexibility to use either voice or data with the same bundle subscription, for instance, SME Flexi 500 automatically gives its users 60 minutes of talk time or 650 MB of data while SME Flexi 1000 gives 125 minutes of talk time or 2000MB of data and SME Flexi 2000 give 275 minutes of voice call or 5000MB of data”, he explained.
Advising SMEs on the way forward, Globacom urged them to embrace “technological advancement, proper accounting solutions to reduce risks, integrated but flexible voice & data plans and online training on business skills”.
In a keynote address at the event, Minister of Trade, Industry and Investment, Okechukwu Enelamah stated that the Federal Government is working towards finding an enabling environment for the players in the economy to thrive and also to ensure productive infrastructure in the economy.
He lauded the organisers of the conference and enjoined them to keep working towards the rapid growth of SMEs in the country.
