Ahead of the Detty December, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Ghana has announced a reduction in the passport application fee, bringing it down from GH₵500 to GH₵350.
This new fee represents a 30 percent decrease.
The new fee structure will come into effect on Thursday, November 13, 2025.
The move is aimed at making passport acquisition more affordable for Ghanaians, in line with government efforts to ease the cost of essential services.
The revised fee applies to all new passport applications, while those renewing existing passports will also benefit from the reduction.
On the other hand, the Federal Government of Nigeria recently increased the Nigerian passport fees to N100,000 and N200,000, saying it was necessary to sustain quality, curb corruption, and ensure timely delivery of travel documents.
The Nigeria Immigration Service, in a statement signed by its Public Relations Officer, ACI AS Akinlabi, announced that from September 1, 2025, applications made within Nigeria will attract new fees of N100,000 for the 32-page, five-year validity passport and N200,000 for the 64-page, 10-year validity passport.
The increase comes barely a year after the Federal Government approved an earlier adjustment in August 2024, which raised the 32-page, five-year booklet from N35,000 to N50,000, and the 64-page, 10-year booklet from N70,000 to N100,000.
