The Federal Government will today constitute the board of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).
This will pave way for Manitoba Hydro International Ltd of Canada to take effective responsibility of the transmission system in the power sector.
The members of the board are Hamman Tukur, Akinsola Akinfenwa, Peter Enwesor, Sam Ominyi Egwu, chief executive of TCN and three others.
It is expected that if the Canadian firm takes over the management of the transmission lines, power loses would be minimised as well as reduce spate of system collapses.
The nation has suffered series of system collapses in recent past owing to weak transmission lines.
With this, the controversy over the $23.7 million contract entered into with the government by the Canadian firm over the management of the over 4,000-kilometre transmission lines would have been put to rest.
It is expected that the inauguration of the board will give the Canadian firm the required authority to manage the company.
