Stella Okoli, founder and CEO of Emzor Pharmaceutical Limited, said with the victory of the Nigerian national female football team, the Super Falcons in the just concluded 10th edition of the Women Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon, the team has given the nation a resounding hope for better things ahead.
Speaking at the reception held in honour of the African Champions by the company, Okoli said the team has once again proven that there are lots of good things in Nigeria.
“With this victory, our girls have shown in another way that good things are still coming out Nigeria and the country indeed has great and better future ahead. It is a thing of joy to see the team conquering at all fronts. We are happy to associate with them.” She stated.
Congratulating the team, Okoli spoke further that the girls remain good inspiration to the younger ones and they are worthy ambassadors of the country.
“Through these players, Nigeria can be repositioned, against all odds. They went and succeeded in bringing the cup back home. There was no negative story about them. They kept Nigeria flag flying in a most wonderful way. It is fact they have shown to the entire world that Nigeria is made up of resilient, disciplined and great people. In fact, Nigerians are champions.” She said.
In his remarks, the minister of sports, Solomon Lalung commended the team for its spirit. He said in the face of obvious challenges, the team still went all the way to emerge the continental champion once again. Meanwhile, the minister also used the opportunity to advise Nigerians to always appreciate and love each other as Nigerians.
“I really thank the team for the wining spirit the players have demonstrated to all of us that they are very reliable and dependable. Despite the challenges, they never looked back, but ensured that the country was not let down at any point. It is a thing of joy.” He stated.
The team captain, Rita Chikwelu, who spoke on behalf of the team, also thanked the company for its kind gesture and promised that the team would never let the country down.
“On behalf of my team mates, I thank Emzor for its support; it is a good thing that a company can give us a full support like this. We pray that the company continues to prosper.”
The event had in attendance the chairman of Nigeria Football Federation, Amaju Pinnick; the first vice chairman, Nigerian Football Federation, Seyi Akinwunmi; the chairman of chairmen (NFF), Ibrahim Gusau; and the chairman, Senate Committee on Sports, Obinna Ogba among others.
