As part of its commitment to advancing educational development in Nigeria and Africa, Etisalat Nigeria, recently co-hosted experienced leaders in the education sector to engage in productive and solution-oriented conversations at the just concluded 4th edition of Thistle Praxis Consulting’s Sustainable Conversations in Lagos.
Rabi Isma, director, leadership and organisation development, Etisalat Nigeria, while speaking at the event said that the company is committed to the sustainable development of education-oriented initiatives that brings private and public sectors together to talk and share positive ideas on how to address critical global challenges, especially in Africa where the factors hampering the development of education are diverse.
“We believe that education is the bedrock of development. We are passionate about equipping today’s populace with the educational skills and knowledge required to ensure a sound future for Nigerians. We believe that a sustained strategic approach must be embraced, rather than flash-in-the-pan projects that ultimately do not contribute as much to the well-being of the educational sector in particular and the nation in general,” she said.
On his part, Pai Obanya, chairman, Council of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), encouraged the private sector, especially corporate organisations like Etisalat Nigeria to continue to support the initiatives that properly empower and educate the Nigerian Youth.
In his opinion, the educational sustainability and growth of Nigeria as a country and as a people depends on the ability of the private and public sectors to join hands together in a bid to up-skill the Nigerian youth.
Ini Onuk, CEO/lead consultant, Thistle Praxis Consulting Limited, said that Sustainable Conversations is a solution-oriented event which was born out of the need to reinvent the wheel of change in the nation.
According to her “these forums help to identify problems and proffer solutions on sustainable development in Nigeria and Africa as a whole.” She thanked Etisalat Nigeria for being able to see and key into the value of the mission and vision of Thistle Praxis Limited to continually foster sustainable development in Nigeria.
