As a result of ongoing protest against the Special Anti-Robbery Squads popularly tagged #EndSARS occurring in almost all the states of the federation and federal capital territory, Abuja, civil and public servants in Abeokuta, Ogun state capital were either trekked or rode motorbikes to the Oke-Mosan Government Secretariat on Monday as protesters block only route that lead the Secretariat.
BusinessDay reports that the protesters in their hundreds as early 6am defied early downpour in Abeokuta to deny many civil and public servants an opportunity to take their vehilces to their places of work at the Oke-Mosan Government Secretariat as the Kuto-NNPC-Under Bridge Roundabout, the only route that leads to State Secretariat was heavily blocked with the protesters.
The protesters also blocked Lagos-Ibadan Expressway at Mowe Junction, Sagamu Interchange, Sagamu-Ijebu-Ode-Benin road at Sagamu and Ijebu-Ode axes, Sango-Ota, Ofada, Panseke- Ibara Roundabout in Abeokuta as part of action to express their displeasure with the state of things in the country, expecially inhuman treatment by the police and call for good governance.
Armed with placards with various inscriptions, the protesters under the aegis of Mowe Concerned Youths in Mowe said they are ready to continue until they see sign of seriousness from the Government as protesters in Sango-Ota, Atan-Agbara axes of the state, demanded immediate fixing of Sango-Ota, Atan-Igbesa-Agbara road, saying whether it is federal or state, the road must be urgently fixed for people to ply easily.
Speaking with journalists in all the areas visited in Ogun state, the protesters who lack leadership structure, hence, chorused their grievances, denied being sponsored by any group or groups of politicians to score political points or gain advantage over those in office, explaining that the initial protest that was tagged #EndSARS is now taking a new dimension as youths are now demanding good governance, motorable roads, rule of law, infrastructural development, respect for fundamental human rights, among others.
