As the Presidential election comes up nationawide on Saturday 16 February, 2019, the Olubadan od Ibadan of Ibadan land, Oba Saliu Akanmu Adetunji, Aje Ogungunniso 1has called on the people to come out en-masse and vote for candidates of their choice without fear.
The first class monarch noted that what make democracy beautiful is the right to choose the leaders of their choice in a free, fair and peaceful atmosphere.
In a statement signed by Adeola Oloko, Personal Assistant /Director of Media and Public Affairs to Olubadan who frowned at the use of thugs and violence in the build-up to the election, appealed to supporters of the candidates not to allow blood-letting any further.
Oba Adetunji stated further that voters should take advantage of the conducive atmosphere provided for the peaceful conduct of the elections by the electoral umpire and the law enforcement agents.
The Olubadan also urged Nigerians to give peace a chance as the whole world is watching.
Also, The Ekiti State Council of Traditional Rulers has called on all leaders of political parties, party supporters, Ekiti sons and daughters and other residents across the state to disallow anything that could disrupt continued peaceful co-existence among the people of the State before, during and after the national elections.
The Chairman, Ekiti State Council of Traditional Rulers, the Oloye of Oye, Oba Oluwole Ademolaju Adugbole III , who made the call in Ado – Ekiti, pleaded with the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC and other security agencies to play the game according
to the rules.
The Council, who implored all officials that would be involved in the election to be neutral and unbiased in discharging their duties urged the people to troop out in large number on Saturday to exercise their civic rights according to their conscience.
