In his sermon in the funeral mass at Christ the King Catholic Church Okija, Hippolite Adigwe said death awaited every man and woman even though nobody prayed for it.
Adigwe, who took the lesson from Luke 12: 35-40, said that people prepared themselves for death at all times by taking care of themselves and the environment in which God placed them in.
He also said that mortals should detach themselves from worldly possession and live a life of holiness so that when they die, men and God would be kind to their memories.
“Begin to free yourself from the material things of this world, the more you attach themselves to them, the more you detach yourself from God.
“We thank God for a life well lived and the family raised by Mathias, we pray that power of Easter will take him to eternity and also pray that God will continue to guide and keep his family,” he said.
The mass was celebrated by Most Revd Martin Uzoukwu, Catholic Bishop of Minna Diocese alongside no fewer than 90 Catholic priests including monsignors from different dioceses across Nigeria were present at the funeral mass.
