Legislative activities on the floor of the House of Representatives on Tuesday suffered major setback, as Speaker Yakubu Dogara and Femi Gbajabiamila’s exchaged fisticuff.
Trouble started when Hembe and other supporters of Hembe and handful lawmakers at the protocol arena of the office of the Speaker as Herman Hembe, chairman, House Committee on FCT slapped Magaji Aliyu (APC-Jigawa) over the lingering crisis on lopsidedness of the special and standing committees.
It however took the intervention of the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yussuff Lasun, to separate the warring members.
One of the lawmakers who spoke under condition of anonymity, noted that the caucus meeting chaired by the Deputy Speaker was aimed at deliberating on the actions of the Majority Leader and his allies.
Abdulmumin Jibrin, chairman House Committee on Appropriation who was contacted via phone, rushed passed Mohammed Munguno, chairman, House Committee on Agriculture at about 11:11 am, to the venue of the caucus closed door meeting held at Hearing Room 1.
Ado Doguwa, chief whip who looks tensed also left the venue of the meeting at 11:21am and returned at 11:25am.
Following the development, about 100 members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gathered in groups to discuss on the lingering crisis.
Speaking after the caucus meeting which ended at 11:38am, Doguwa dismissed insinuation of impeachment.
