Ahead of Saturday’s gubernatorial election and House of Assembly in Delta State, Gloria Okolugbo, candidate of the Change Advocacy Party (CAP) has stepped down from the gubernatorial race pledging her support towards the election of the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Great Ogboru.
Okolugbo, a three-time commissioner in the Emmanuel Uduaghan administration, said her decision to pull out of the race and back the APC candidate was informed by the need to collectively support the effort of the APC candidate to win the governorship election and rescue the people from poverty.
“We therefore wish to ask all her faithful followers and constituents who want sustainable development to collapse all interests and join hands with the APC to clinch victory at the polls,” she said.
The former commissioner urged all her supporters in Aniocha, Ijaw, Isoko, Urhobo and several other local governments areas in the state to join hands and support the APC candidate towards the party’s electoral victory on Saturday.
“On the Anioma agenda, we believe that the need for equity cuts across every nation. The Ndokwa/ Ukwuani political interest is bigger than any person. In light of the foregoing, we urge all our people who feel the lack of equity even within the Anioma nation to come out en-masse and support all candidates of the APC,”’ she said.
She said that Delta State could not afford to be in the opposition and expect attention as it deserved from the centre. “We urge all committed members of Comrade Gloria Okolugbo structure across the Ijaw, Isoko, Urhobo and other nations in the vast land of Delta State to ignore completely every propaganda meant to weaken the opposition and throw their votes into the ballot to ensure victory for the APC.”
