Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra state has set up a panel of inquiry to investigate the cause of recent fire disaster in Delfarm, Igbariam in Anambra West Local Government Area of the state.
The panel has Chief Dan Ogbuefi as Chairman, Mr Afam Mbanefo, Chief Lawrence Anikpe, Chief Chikodi Anara, Mr John Ahwen, Mr Obi Nwankwo and Mr Martin Agbili as members.
Delfarm Songhai is one of the farms in partnership with the state government, geared toward promoting food production.
While inaugurating the panel at Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia Gov. Obiano urged them to visit other farms and make recommendations that would end fire outbreaks in various farms within the state.
The governor gave them three weeks to submit their report stressing that their recommendations would enable him to provide lasting solution to fire disasters.
The Chairman of the panel, Ogbuefi promised to work diligently to deliver as directed.
The governor had visited Delfarm Songhai Farm Igbariam, which was razed by fire; arson was suspected.
It was gathered that the 30 hectares of sorghum farm also had other crops like banana, maize and vegetables.
Delfarm Songhai Farms, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Anambra State Government to supply 10,000 metric tons of sorghum to Intafact Breweries for brewing beer.
