Four persons have been allegedly shot dead in Iseyin, Oyo State, on Thursday, by men of the Nigerian Customs Service.
One other person was said to have also been fatally injured during the shooting.
The operatives started shooting into the air after intercepting smuggled goods coming through the borders when they got into the town.

Some of those hit by stray bullets were residents out to enjoy the Sallah celebration. The incident caused tension in the community, as family and friends of those affected staged a protest.
It would be recalled that indiscriminate shooting by the personnel of the Nigerian Customs recently led to a face-off between them and members of the proscribed Nigerian Union of Transport Workers (NURTW), as the chairman of the union in Iseyin was hit by a shot from a Customs officer.
