FA Cup holders Crystal Palace pulled off another Wembley surprise by beating Premier League champions Liverpool 3-2 on penalties after a thrilling 2-2 draw to lift the Community Shield on Sunday.
Goalkeeper Dean Henderson was the shootout hero for Palace, saving from Alexis Mac Allister and Harvey Elliott, while Mohamed Salah sent his kick over the bar.

That set the stage for 21-year-old midfielder Justin Devenny, introduced as a stoppage-time substitute, to smash the winning penalty past Alisson and spark jubilant celebrations.
Palace, who had never won a major trophy until this year, have now claimed two in just three months at Wembley, having stunned Manchester City in the FA Cup final in May.
They also became the first club to win the Community Shield on debut in 50 years, following Derby County’s triumph in 1975.
“It’s incredible. We turned up today; they’re the favourites; they’ve got unbelievable players, and they’re a great team,” Henderson said. “Two trophies in three months. That’s incredible. Let’s find the next bit of history.”
The victory capped a remarkable rise for Palace, who will now head into the new Premier League season with silverware and soaring confidence.
