The Committee of Wives of Lagos State Officials (COWLSO) is to explore means by which women in the country can discover and harness opportunities amid global economic doldrums and leverage on such opportunities to economically empower themselves and their families.
Bolanle Ambode, wife of the Lagos State governor, who doubles as chairman of COWLSO, briefing journalists, Thursday, on this year’s conference of the committee, said the conference with the theme “Relevance in Economic Turbulence” would be bringing professionals from different walks of life to brainstorm on the theme and chat the way forward for the women.
“The conference will be examining how women can successfully turn the global unpleasant economic environment, to the advantage of their families and the society. It will seek to provide new insights into establishing and maintaining good quality life. It is expected to be an enriching experience for all participants,” said Ambode at a media briefing in Ikeja, yesterday.
According to the Lagos first lady, relevant topics have been carefully selected to be discussed in the conference by accomplished professionals among whom are Toyin Adeniji, former head of women in business and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) Development- International Financial Corporation (World Bank Group), Herbert Wigwe, managing director of Access Bank plc, Bola Dapo-Thomas, permanent secretary, Lagos State Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, among others who will chair various sessions of the event.
