…Clinic records over 600 safe ART births
Clearview Hospital and Fertility has celebrated its 8th anniversary, marking a journey of resilience, innovation, and transformative impact in maternal and reproductive healthcare across Nigeria.
Speaking during the clinic’s 8th anniversary celebration on Friday, Medical Director, Kunle Ajayi shared insights into the facility’s journey, growth, and commitment to advancing fertility care in Nigeria and beyond.
According to Ajayi, the facility has safely delivered over 600 babies through Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) since its inception eight years ago achieving this feat with zero recorded maternal or infant mortality.
“We average about 75 births annually, many of them involving multiple pregnancies such as twins, triplets, and even quadruplets. That’s not unusual in fertility treatment, especially in Nigeria where regulations permit the transfer of up to three embryos during IVF,” Ajayi said.
Nigeria as a fertility tourism hub
He explained that Clearview’s consistent success in ART has positioned Nigeria as a growing destination for global fertility tourism, with about 40% of its patients coming from abroad, including countries like the UK, US, Canada, Germany, and parts of the Middle East.
“Some of these patients have been told abroad that their fibroids are inoperable or that hysterectomy is the only option, but here, we’ve helped many preserve their uterus through advanced, uterus-sparing fibroid surgeries,” Ajayi added.
Ajayi credited the clinic’s impressive track record to a culture of care, teamwork, and an uncompromising focus on patient safety.
However, he also highlighted persistent challenges, particularly around financing and infrastructure.
“We started Clearview without loans, and that made things tough at the beginning. Medical equipment that cost N30 million five years ago now goes for N60 million to N70 million due to currency fluctuations and import dependency,” he said.
Community-driven care: Launch of the Clearview Moms club
As part of the anniversary, the hospital launched a new initiative the Clearview Moms Club, a support network designed for women who have accessed the clinic’s fertility and maternal health services.
Ajayi said the idea behind the club is to celebrate their shared journeys, foster community-based support systems, and raise awareness about fertility treatment options in Nigeria.
“We expect between 150 to 200 women in the first phase. With over 600 children born through our care, this platform will help spread hope and encourage women navigating similar paths,” he said.
Banking on women’s wellness
In support of the celebration, Access Bank’s Head of Women Banking, Mrs. Nene Kunle-Ogulusi, reaffirmed the bank’s dedication to women’s health and empowerment.
She announced the rollout of a dedicated women’s health desk to help clients access flexible health-related loans, particularly for fertility and maternal healthcare.
“Fertility treatment is still financially out of reach for many families. That’s why we are providing easier, more affordable financing options to support women’s health journeys,” Kunle-Ogulusi said.
She noted that the move aligns with Access Bank’s broader women empowerment agenda and reflects the need for sustainable support systems in reproductive health.
Celebrating an entrepreneurial journey of impact
Also, speaking during the commemorative event, Michael Agbaje, Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, highlighted the significance of recognizing every step of entrepreneurial growth.
He said that the celebration goes beyond just numbers—it’s about honoring the vision, the challenges overcome, and the lives transformed through healthcare excellence.
“From the days of raising capital, paying that first rent, hiring staff, and distributing Christmas food packs to now running a multi-million naira healthcare facility every one of those milestones is a win.
“We are here to celebrate not just eight years, but eight years of real impact,” Agbaje said.
Agbaje noted that Clearview Hospital began with a focus on comprehensive female reproductive services, offering antenatal, delivery, and postnatal care for both low- and high-risk patients.
“Over the years, the hospital expanded its services in response to the growing need for specialized fertility and women’s health solutions in Nigeria,” he said.
He explained that this commitment to innovation and growth led to the establishment of Clearview Fertility, a specialized arm delivering world-class assisted reproductive services.
These include IVF, Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI), egg donation, egg freezing, surrogacy programs, and Preimplantation Genetic Testing (PGT) with success rates comparable to top fertility centers globally.
In addition to fertility services, Clearview offers advanced gynecological endoscopic surgeries such as hysteroscopy, laparoscopic myomectomy, hysterectomy, cystectomy, and treatment for endometriosis.
The hospital also manages high-risk pregnancies and operates a top-tier Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU) staffed by skilled neonatologists and nurses, achieving some of the best preterm survival outcomes in the region.
A legacy built on safety and partnerships
Beyond clinical excellence, Agbaje said Clearview has prioritized accessibility, affordability, and safety.
The hospital has formed strategic partnerships with key industry stakeholders and earned international accreditation from Safecare Healthcare Standards by PharmAccess, reinforcing its commitment to globally recognized safety protocols.
“Our vision has always been about more than medicine, it’s about people. About families. We’ve built something meaningful from the ground up, and today we’re proud to stand among the best both locally and internationally,” Agbaje said.
