At the 68th Annual Grammy Awards held on February 1, 2026, Brazilian legends Caetano Veloso and Maria Bethânia won the Best Global Music Album category for their live album Caetano e Bethânia Ao Vivo. The win came over nominees including Burna Boy’s No Sign of Weakness, Siddhant Bhatia’s Sounds Of Kumbha, Youssou N’Dour’s Eclairer le monde: Light the World, Shakti’s Mind Explosion (50th Anniversary Tour Live), and Anoushka Shankar featuring Alam Khan and Sarathy Korwar’s Chapter III: We Return To Light.
Burna Boy, the Nigerian artist known for his Afrobeats work, received his nomination in the category but did not secure the award.

This outcome follows Tyla’s win in the Best African Music Performance category for her song “Push 2 Start,” where she again prevailed over Nigerian nominees including Burna Boy’s “Love,” Davido’s “With You” featuring Omah Lay, and Ayra Starr’s “Gimme Dat” featuring Wizkid. As reported by BusinessDay, Tyla’s victory marks her second Grammy in the category, following her 2024 win for “Water.”
“Push 2 Start,” from the deluxe edition of her self-titled album Tyla+, amassed over 614 million streams (the highest among nominees) and charted in the U.S. and UK. It highlights Tyla edging out Burna Boy and other Nigerian artists once more, after Tems won the category in 2025 for “Love Me JeJe.”
The results show no wins for Nigerian artists in these global and African-focused categories this year, despite strong nominations.
