Muhammadu Buhari, former head of state and presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has returned to the country on Friday from the United Kingdom (UK).
Buhari, during his short trip met with Tony Blair, former British prime minister and honoured an invitation to speak at the Royal Institute of International Affairs, Chatham House, London.
His trip, however, generated unprecedented attacks from the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) which alleged that the APC presidential candidate was “sick and flown to London on air ambulance”.
Buhari, who arrived the international wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja at 5.40a.m refuted the report of his “failing health”, insisting that he was fit and ready to continue with the last phase of his campaign tour.
He, however, did not deny that while he was in London, he did not consult his physician.

“I Just went (to the United Kingdom) for a couple of weeks to rest just to hold my breath. What is wrong for me going to the hospital, are you not seeing me now (in good health condition), am I not here now, have you seen a sick man? Buhari queried.
Reacting to an observation that his absence had cost his party “a lot” in the campaign, Buhari said: “I don’t think so. One man does not make a party. Remember that some parties came together to form this party, so one man cannot make the party.”
