President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday showed up at the Aso presidential Villa, Mosque for the Friday Juma’at prayers.
Dressed in white babanriga, a frail looking Buhari made an entry to the mosque facing a crowd of journalists waiting to capture his appearance. His frail look may be the reason the President has kept away from public view.
The President was seen waving and exchanging pleasantries with other worshipers. Since taking over the reins of government, Buhari has made it a tradition to pray at the Aso Rock mosque with other muslim faithful to avoid the huge traffic that follows his presence at the national mosque. Sometimes, within the week the President also joins in the prayers at the villa mosque.
However, the President has drastically cut his appearance at the mosque since his return from medical vacation on March 10. His appearance at the mosque this Friday is expected to douse the tension in the polity about his whereabouts since he has hardly made any public appearance.
President Buhari was scheduled to receive his Niger counterpart Mahamadou Issoufou today, the visit was however rescheduled last night. Presidential Spokesman Femi Adesina in a statement last night stated that it was at the instance of his Nigerien counterpart.
