Muhammadu Buhari, the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, has accused the Federal Government of spending $20 billion generating mere 4,000 megawatts of electricity.
This is as the party has insisted on the use of card readers and the permanent voter cards (PVCs), saying election riggers would be out of business on March 28. Buhari, who spoke at the APC South South zonal presidential rally at the Liberation Stadium in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, noted that Nigeria under PDP government has since 1999 earned so much money but regretted that it has done nothing to show for it as the masses are still languishing in poverty and deprivation. He warned that the greatest mistake the people would make again would be to vote in PDP.
He decried the level of alleged wastages especially in the oil and gas sector which he said has provided more than enough money for the nation but “PDP does not know what to do with it”. Speaking on his manifesto, the APC presidential candidate said his focus would be more on security and economic restructuring to enable his government create avenues for jobs so that the masses would be lifted up from their present poverty level.
Buhari further noted that the value of the nation’s currency has gone down against the dollar in the present administration but warned that the continued reign of PDP would mean the entrenchment of corruption and unemployment in the country. “If you don’t kill corruption, corruption will kill Nigeria”, Buhari said.
