Nigerian fintech company Transactworld Digital, owners of Transactpay, has taken a bold step that will transform digital payments for businesses across the country by integrating with OPay, granting its merchants instant access to over 40 million active users.
The integration means Transactpay merchants, from small-scale traders to large enterprises, can now receive payments directly from OPay’s 10 million daily transactors without requiring customers to leave the app or enter account details.
According to Ernest Obi, CEO of Transactworld Digital, the move is more than just an upgrade but a “distribution revolution” for Nigerian businesses. “We’ve turned the biggest mobile payment app in Nigeria into a growth engine for small businesses. Now, every POS, street corner, and digital wallet in Nigeria is a potential sales channel,” he said.
The development is expected to significantly boost sales for businesses, as OPay users—already accustomed to frequent transactions—can now pay Transactpay merchants seamlessly. Payments are completed within the OPay app, and merchants receive funds instantly in their Transactpay dashboard, eliminating delays and increasing trust in transactions.

Unlike traditional payment platforms, Transactpay allows even the smallest businesses—such as tailors, food vendors, and freelancers—to accept payments effortlessly. The company’s latest campaign captures this advantage with the tagline: “You bring the hustle, we bring 40 million potential customers.”
The integration also positions Transactpay as a strong competitor to established payment platforms like Paystack and Flutterwave, with a focus on expanding customer reach rather than just adding features. “The fintech wars are over features. We’re here to win with customers,” Obi added.
With this new capability, businesses not yet on Transactpay risk losing out to competitors already tapping into OPay’s vast user base. Analysts say the move could redefine digital payment adoption among Nigerian SMEs, as more merchants seek platforms that connect them directly to ready-to-spend customers.
Transactworld Digital, licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), operates Transactpay, a payment solution supporting bank transfers, card payments, QR codes, and now direct OPay wallet transactions.
