Nollywood actress, Anee Ichaa, has said she would rather get married later in and her life to the right man than get married now but to a wrong man.
In an interview with Bliss recently, the Split actress, who said she is not engaged to any man at the moment, said she at the “dating” stage of her relationship.
She said, “I am dating. It is different from being in a committed relationship and I am not in one. I am not engaged, I am not married and I am not on my way there.
Men are interesting. I like them. I am taking my time. It is so much better to marry right than marry fast. Don’t do it fast, do it right.”
Talking about her character in the drama Split, Anee said she acted the role of a strict mother who did everything by the book.
“Tola is not the sort of person that does things illegally. On the surface, Tola is a good mother and she is decent. But underneath, there is a lot going on with Tola.
Human beings have dual personality. You will run into problem if you label somebody either are good or bad. By nature, humans have both qualities, depending on how much pressure is applied then you see what comes out. But in a nutshell, Tola is a very realistic person.”
As much as she is gaining ground in the movie industry at the moment, Anee said it has not been a walk in the park to get to the level she is on.
“At the same time, life is not meant to be a walk in the park. There would be surprises along the way. There would be things you didn’t expect to happen that would happen. And such things might break you. Nollywood mirrors life. There are the good sides and there are the bad sides. Thankfully, I have a decent head on my shoulders and I know how to navigate the industry smoothly but not easily.”
But even as she has gained ground in Nollywood, Anee is yet to be considered an A-lister in the industry but she said it is not a problem for her.
“It is less about being on everybody’s lips and more about making sure you represent yourself in a way that you are proud of and in the away that at the end of the day, you go to bed saying you did the right thing. I didn’t start this journey for fame. In fact, if there is a way I can do this job and still be anonymous, I would go for it. I like my privacy and I don’t admire celebrity culture. Because of that part of my personality, I pick and I choose. There are stuff that I wouidn’t do no matter how big they are. If they don’t resonate with the things I believe in, I will not do it. To cap this, my Dad taught me to go for quantity rather than quality. We live in a world that celebrates quantity but the actually world upholds quality more. When a film is built right, it will last for a long time. My hope is that I go for quality rather than quantity in terms of how I navigate my career.”
