Governor Seyi Makinde on Wednesday urged the newly recruited personnel of the Western Nigeria Security Network (WNSN), code-named Amotekun to exhibit a high level of professionalism while discharging their duties.
Makinde who stated this during the passing out parade of the pioneer members of Amotekun Corps in the State warned them not to harass any member of the public.
According to the governor, you are not to harass anybody, you are to exhibit a high level of professionalism.
While saying that the regional integration in the South West with Amotekun will come to the limelight said “anyone who is not authorized to walk in the night should not walk in the night, so don’t let Amotekun beat you with Koboko”.
About one thousand five hundred Corps members passed out after the two weeks of training and orientation.
Speaking at the event held at the Emmanuel Alayande College of Education in Oyo, he however urged members of the public to cooperate with the Corps.
Present at the event were Secretary to the state government, Olubamiwo Adeosun, Chief of Staff, Bisi Ilaka, former Oyo Central District Senator, Monsurat Sunmonu, and Deputy Speaker, Oyo State House of Assembly, Abiodun Fadeyi.
The governor said that the 1,500 Amotekun Corps personnel would be posted to all the 351 electoral wards in the state.
Makinde maintained that the Amotekun Corps would work with other security agencies in the state.
The governor charged the cadets to do all possible to contribute to the socio-economic growth of the State by keeping their various areas safe from aggression and criminalities.
