The Bauchi State Women Empowerment Initiative, on Tuesday, seek collaboration with the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps on gender based violence.
Tabawa Sule Atiku, the Executive Director of the group, said that the organisation is envisioned in a society where women and men enjoy equal opportunities and is dedicated to building the resilience of communities across Bauchi State and Nigeria.
The leader said that the group is a non-governmental, non-political, and non-believer organisation that promotes gender equity, socio-economic empowerment, with inclusive participation in national development through gender-transformative advocacy, capacity building and strategic partnerships.
Also speaking during the courtesy visit, Justin Ocholi Nathaniel seeks for partnership with the Command to be able to achieve their goals while carrying out their activities in the state.
He said that security operatives like NSCDC play a critical role in ensuring the safety and dignity of every citizen. Added that gender based violence (GBV) continues to pose a significant social challenge in Nigeria, affecting numerous women, girls, and families across the country.
“Despite the existence of national frameworks, grassroot implementation remains hindered by cultural, religious, and systemic constraints”
In his remarks, the NSCDC Commandant, Oloyede Nelson Oyerinde, expressed his appreciation to the group for their visitation and for making sure that women and girls live free from violence, a nation where faith and cultural leadership stand as forces for peace.
The Commandant promised that his administration is ready to partner with them to fight against gender based violence in Bauchi State.
