Barcelona have completed the loan signing of England international Marcus Rashford from Manchester United for the 2025/26 season, with an option to make the move permanent next summer for €30 million.
Rashford, who hasn’t featured for Manchester United since December 2024 due to a fallout with then-manager Rúben Amorim, spent the second half of last season at Aston Villa before a season-ending injury halted his progress. He will wear the No. 14 shirt at Barcelona.
A statement from the Spanish champions confirmed: “FC Barcelona and Manchester United have reached an agreement for the loan of Marcus Rashford until 30 June 2026. The agreement includes an option to buy the English forward. The player signed his contract this afternoon in the presence of president Joan Laporta and other club officials.”
Despite finalising the deal, Rashford is yet to be registered due to LaLiga’s strict financial regulations. Barcelona must trim its wage bill or boost revenue to remain within league spending limits. The club has until the end of August to comply, though they remain confident of registering Rashford and other new signings in time for the new season.
Barcelona will cover Rashford’s wages during the loan—reportedly reduced from his £325,000-a-week Manchester United salary—as he looks to revive his career under new manager Hansi Flick.
The 27-year-old is eager to fight for a starting spot alongside Lamine Yamal and Raphinha. He becomes Barça’s third major summer signing, following the arrivals of goalkeeper Joan Garcia and Danish forward Roony Bardghji.
Rashford was reportedly Barcelona’s top attacking target after Nico Williams committed to a long-term contract with Athletic Bilbao. His move to the Nou Camp fulfils a long-held personal ambition and offers him a chance to return to top form in a team competing for major silverware on multiple fronts.
