Barau Ibrahim Jibrin, Deputy President of the Senate, has called on security agencies to intensify operations against bandits terrorizing communities in the Tsanyawa and Shanono Local Government Areas of Kano State.
Barau made the appeal while reacting to the latest attack in Yankamaye village, Tsanyawa LGA, where a woman was killed and three persons were kidnapped on Saturday night. The incident occurred just days after a similar attack in Biresawa village within the same council area.
In a statement issued by Ismail Muashir, his special adviser on Media and Publicity to the deputy senate president condemned the repeated incursions, describing them as unacceptable.
“I have received the distressing report of the killing of a woman and the kidnapping of three persons in Yankamaye village by marauding bandits from neighbouring states,” Barau said. “This incident happened only a few days after another attack in Biresawa.
“I therefore call on our security agencies—who have confronted these criminals on various occasions in this axis—to double their efforts, rescue the innocent victims, and take the fight to the perpetrators”, he stated.

He warned that fleeing criminals from neighbouring states must not be allowed to destabilise peaceful communities in Kano, stressing that security agencies must act decisively.
“We will not allow these marauding criminals who are on the run from neighbouring states following military operations to destabilise our communities. The security of our people’s lives and properties is paramount. No stone will be left unturned in achieving this,” he added.
