The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Monday accused the African Democratic Congress (ADC) of peddling falsehoods and running a “disinformation campaign” over its ongoing electronic membership registration exercise, saying the opposition party was intimidated by the scale of participation.
In a statement dated February 2, Felix Morka, the APC National Publicity Secretary, dismissed claims attributed to the ADC that civil servants were being coerced to register as APC members, describing the allegation as “entirely false and baseless.”

“Terrified by massive All Progressives Congress (APC) membership registration in the ongoing electronic-registration exercise, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has spewed a nonsensical allegation that civil servants were being pressured to participate in our Party’s E-Registration exercise,” Morka said.
He argued that the allegation was aimed at undermining what he described as a “cutting-edge and pathbreaking digitization” of the party’s membership register, adding that it formed part of a broader attempt by the ADC to discredit the process.
According to Morka, the disinformation campaign had also included the “fabrication and circulation of a fake ‘APC membership slip’,” which falsely suggested that a notorious terrorist had been registered as a party member.
The APC spokesperson said the scale of voluntary participation in the e-registration exercise reflected growing public support for the ruling party, driven by the impact of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
“Inspired by visible gains and impact of the Renewed Hope Agenda, millions of Nigerians have registered and continue to register, voluntarily and enthusiastically, as members of our Party,” he said.
He added that the surge in interest compelled the party to extend the registration deadline from January 31 to February 8, 2026, in response to what he described as “popular demand.”
Morka insisted that the ADC’s reaction was rooted in fear of the success of the exercise. “Clearly, the ADC is intimidated by the phenomenal success of our Party’s E-Registration exercise, for obvious reasons. However, that cannot justify concocting and spewing lies in an attempt to smear the exercise,” he said.

He maintained that while the ADC “continues to fumble and peddle falsehood,” the APC would remain focused on consolidating its reforms.
“Our great Party remains focused on its onward march as Africa’s standard-bearer of digital and democratic innovation,” Morka added.
