In its efforts to curb the state of corruption in the education sector, the Anambra State government has ordered the closure of Tower Primary School Oba over examination malpractice and sacked the teachers involved in the incident.
Charles Soludo gave the directive that the school be shut down because the management of the school was alleged to be helping the pupils in writing the examination through illegal means.
Kosisochukwu Igwe, and Precious Chibuzo, proprietor of the school, and a Parents’ Teachers Association (PTA) teacher, were both accused of examination scam during the 2023 Transition Placement Examination of Anambra State.
Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, commissioner for the education of the state announced the disciplinary actions to take on the accused besides closing the school.

According to a report the commissioner disclosure shortly after a meeting on disciplinary actions to take on the accused, and reiterated that the accused admitted their offenses after thorough investigations were made.
“Report from the pupils of Triumphant Cross School Oba resulted in the investigation which revealed that the proprietress of the Tower Academy Oba, Kosisochukwu Igwe sneaked into the examination hall, connived with the PTA teacher, took a photograph of the question paper, solved questions and supplied answers to the candidates.
“The Tower Academy proprietress, Kosisochukwu Igwe, who admitted committing the offense, pleaded for forgiveness,” the report read in part.
Chuma-Udeh later announced that all the pupils involved in the alleged malpractice would re-sit for the examinations as punishment for being accomplices of examination malpractice.
Chuma-Udeh further said that the ministry of education has rescheduled the re-sit examinations for Tuesday, April 4, 2023, and would be personally supervised by the commissioner.
