All is now set for the 11th edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) as this prestigious event celebrates the best in African film and television.
Scheduled for May 10, 2025, this year’s edition is shaping up to be a spectacular gathering of talent and creativity, with the nominees, all gearing up for the big day and hoping they would pick up the coveted plaque.
Even before the grand finale, this year’s AMVCA is set to span four days, from May 7 to May 10. This extended format aims to provide a more immersive experience, allowing for a variety of events that celebrate achievements in film, culture, fashion, and music.

And in a move to recognise the integral role of music in film, the AMVCA has introduced the Best Music Score category. This addition highlights the importance of musical composition in enhancing cinematic storytelling.
The list of nominees showcases a rich tapestry of talent across various categories. Notable films like “Lisabi: The Uprising”, “Skeleton Coast”, “House of Ga’a”, “My Fairy Tale Wedding’’ and “Freedom Way” have secured nominations. These films are expected to be strong contenders on the night.
The 11th edition will feature two honorary awards: the Industry Merit Award and the Trailblazer Award. These accolades aim to honor individuals who have made significant contributions to the African film and television industry.
