President Bola Tinubu has called for extra vigilance to avert more fire disasters, while also commiserating with the families of victims, the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), and the United Bank of Africa (UBA) Plc over Tuesday’s fire outbreak at Afriland Building on Broad Street, Lagos Island.
Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, in a statement, said President Tinubu also extended his condolences to the management and staff of Afriland Properties Limited, the FIRS, UBA, and particularly those who lost loved ones in the inferno, and the injured who are currently receiving medical attention.

The fire disaster, whose real cause is yet to be unravelled, led to the death of FIRS Directors and other casualties.
The President, however, commended the emergency responders, including the Federal Fire Service, first aiders, medical personnel, and members of the public, for their quick intervention and noted their deep sense of responsibility during the evacuation.

According to the statement, ” President Tinubu advised more caution, training, and alertness to avert such emergencies in the future.”
The President prayed that God Almighty will receive the souls of the departed and grant quick recovery to the injured.
