Ademola Lookman has rejoined Atalanta’s first team following crucial talks with head coach Ivan Juric.
The Nigerian forward had been absent amid a turbulent summer, with reports linking him to a move to Inter Milan. The saga reportedly created tension, as Atalanta insisted on a gentleman’s agreement that Lookman would not join a domestic rival.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the 27-year-old Super Eagles winger has now put the episode behind him, apologised to his teammates, and committed to giving his best for La Dea.
“Ademola Lookman is back with the group. The Nigerian striker trained with his teammates for the first time since the start of the training camp under coach Ivan Juric, putting an end to the long-distance verbal exchanges,” the paper reported.
The turning point came after a private meeting with Juric, during which Lookman assured the coach of his renewed motivation and willingness to give “100%” for the team.
Atalanta have since welcomed him back into the squad, with the forward expected to feature in Sunday’s Serie A clash against Torino.
Lookman’s return is a timely boost for Atalanta, who are eager to strengthen their attack after a difficult start to the season, including a heavy Champions League defeat to PSG. Following the Torino game, Juric’s side will face Juventus in Turin on Saturday, September 27.
