The Accord Party in Osun State has said that the All Progressives Congress (APC) no longer enjoys public acceptance in the State, insisting that the party does not pose any challenge to its Governorship candidate, Governor Ademola Adeleke.
Speaking on Thursday at a newspoint programme of the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Osun State Council, Victor Akande, the Osun State Accord Chairman, attributed his position to the experiences of residents during the period of APC Administration in the State.
Akande said Osun citizens suffered untold hardship under the APC, alleging that the era was characterised by half salary payments, abandoned projects and the neglect of pensioners who were unable to meet basic medical needs.

According to him, the Adeleke-led Administration, which came on board about three years ago, reversed the situation through projects spread across the state, noting that the developments had strengthened public support for Adeleke.
He said, “It is known that the people of Osun State don’t want APC again, they have been rejected, this was evident in 2022 election, I know by the grace of God August 2028 they will hear it clearly that APC has become a persona non grata as far as Osun State is concerned, so the work of Mr Governor will speak for him, because he has done well beyond expectations as far as Osun State is concerned.”
He also spoke on his party’s grassroots strategy, noting that Accord has structures in all Local Governments and Polling Units and had established a Community Enlightenment Committee to reach rural communities without access to social media or electricity.
He explained that the Committee would focus on educating residents, particularly elderly voters, on political developments, the ballot process and the party’s identity.
On inter-party relations, the chairman said Accord Party maintains ties with other political parties in the State, revealing that 14 political parties were present at the party’s primary held on December 10, 2025, and that the reception given to Governor Adeleke by residents after the exercise further confirmed his wide acceptance.
