Ahead of summer, the busiest travel season of the year, Delta Airlines is deepening competition with an updated app with real-time flight updates, personalised notifications, travel documentation support, amongst others – giving customers more control through expanded self-service features and a more connected travel experience.
The updated app includes a lineup of new features designed to simplify and empower travellers’ journey even further – whether they’re shopping for flights, selecting choice benefits, or staying informed during your travel day.
The app has notifications for pre-boarding, boarding, gate closures, in-flight progress, and arrival times, starting three hours before departure.

Starting June 1, Diamond and Platinum Medallion Members can exclusively select and manage their Choice Benefits through the Fly Delta app, simplifying the process of unlocking loyalty rewards.
Platinum and Diamond Medallion Members can view and redeem eligible Global and Regional Upgrade Certificates directly within the app during the booking process, mirroring the functionality.
Customers can link their SkyMiles accounts with Uber via the Fly Delta app to earn miles on rides to and from the airport, premium rides, Uber Reserve rides, and UberEats orders over $40. This feature is limited to U.S. rides and deliveries; terms apply.
Recognising the unpredictability of travel, Delta is enhancing customer notifications to provide more tailored and timely information during travel disruptions, ensuring passengers are well-informed and supported.
In a statement by Delta, it stated that the app will soon assist customers in preparing for international trips by alerting them to any missing documentation or tasks required for their destination, promoting a smoother travel experience.

“Customers with the Fly Delta app can take control of their travel plans when the unexpected happens, starting this June. In the event of a travel disruption,” the airline stated.
It added that Delta customers traveling on nonstop flights or on the last leg of their journeys will now be able to book themselves as standby passengers on an earlier flight departing within 24 hours before the originally confirmed flight (feature is limited to domestic travel only).
“We’re continuously improving the Fly Delta app to make it the ultimate travel companion, enhancing every step of the customer journey to ensure seamless and connected travel with Delta. As we announced at CES 2025, the next step in this journey will be leveraging Delta-centric AI – Delta Concierge—for an elevated human touch to supercharge the customer experience, beginning later this year.”
