The Presidential Election Petition Tribunal has just delivered a major blow to the PDP and Atiku Abubakar’s petition.
According to the Tribunal, Atiku and PDP were unable to prove that a central server exists where results of the 2019 election were transmitted
The latest ruling came as the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal moved to determine the substantial issue in the People’s Democratic Party and Atiku Abubakar’s petition challenging President Muhammad Buhari election in the Feb 23, presidential election.
This came after the tribunal dispensed with the six preliminary applications.
The Tribunal ruled that Atiku Abubakar is a Nigerian, dismissing Buhari’s submission that Atiku is not a Nigerian and has no legal right to institute any action against him.
Tribunal also threw out the argument by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that security rigged for President Muhammad Buhari on February 23 presidential election.
The PDP and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, through their witnesses, had alleged that security men in collaboration with APC helped to perpetuate malpractices against the party to help Buhari win the election.
But in its ruling, the tribunal held that for failure to include names of security men who rigged for Buhari, the allegation by PDP failed, thus upholding INEC’s submission that for failing to include the names of the riggers made the allegation useless, and without probate value.
