The leadership of three labour unions, Non Academic Staff Unions (NASU); Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) and National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT) under the aegis of Joint Action Committee (JAC), have threatened to withdraw services as from Monday, 11th September, 2017.
The notice for a total and indefinite nationwide strike was issued at the press briefing held by the three unions.
The threat notice was issued barely 20 minutes after Federal Government’s negotiation team with the striking Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) unveiled plans to resume negotiation on Thursday, 7th September, 2017 by 12noon.
Voicing the frustration of the three allied unions at a press briefing held in Abuja under the aegis of Joint Action Committee (JAC), Samson Ugwoke, SSANU President noted that current labour crisis in the nation’s universities results from breach of implementation of FGN/University Non Teaching Staff Unions Agreements of 2009 and a Memorandum of Understanding signed by the parties in January 2017.
