LG Electronics, a global leader in consumer electronics took its Corporate Social responsibility (CSR) drive a step further when it visited Agodo Health Centre in Egbe-Ikotun, Lagos.
The company donated some units of the recently introduced LG anti-Mosquito air conditioners as well as treated mosquito nets to the health centre.
The organisation embarked on this gesture in order to enhance health care and fight the scourge of malaria which has been recognized to be the biggest killer of pregnant women as well as children under the age of 5.
At the event, LG Electronics representatives interacted with members of the community as well as the health centre management team. The donated items are expected to meet the needs of the centre in their quest to provide people in the area with quality health care. Speaking at the occasion, Junhwa Jeong, general manager, Air conditioning and Energy Solutions, LG Electronics, said “We have deemed it fit to donate the recently introduced LG Anti-mosquito AC and treated mosquito nets to Agodo Health Centre in order to combat the scourge of malaria. We constantly intend to carry out this sort of initiative in order to drive home the point that we are indeed a caring organisation that is dedicated to meeting the peculiar needs of our teeming consumers”.
Speaking further, he said: “I would like to reiterate that LG Electronics is committed to supporting institutions that maintain and improve society. We are further going to expand our work in Nigeria by initiating and adopting transformational CSR activities that will add value to the lives of individuals and communities.” Mohammed Fouani, managing director, Fouani Nigeria Limited, who was also present at the event said: “As a global brand, our mission is to better the lives of our host communities irrespective of their socio-economic status. In view of the fact that we have an unwavering love for this continent, we launched the world’s first anti-mosquito AC which we are donating today to Agodo Health Center along-side treated mosquito nets.
Receiving the items on behalf of the health centre, the Medical Officer of Health, Egbe-Idimu LCDA; Odumade said: “We commend LG Electronics for the kind gesture and we are also elated to be among the beneficiaries of this newly launched Anti mosquito Air conditioner and mosquito nets. These donated items will indeed go a long way to meet the needs of the people of this community”. Odumade further said that he believed that the items donated will go a long way in helping the health centre to deliver its services in a conducive atmosphere to the people in the community. He called on other corporate bodies to take a cue from LG in meeting the needs of disadvantaged institutions; He affirmed that there are many health organisation that are in critical need of support.
LG through this event showed itself to be a brand that identifies with the plight of Nigerians by donating its innovative consumer electronic products. The Anti-mosquito Air-conditioner which was recently launched into the Nigerian market comes with a unique ultrasonic device that repels and knocks down mosquitoes. Over the years, LG Electronics has been in the forefront of giving back to the society with unparalleled CSR initiatives. Recent ones have been the visit of the company’s executives to Orimedu Health Centre in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos, Compassion Centre in Nkpogu, Port Harcourt as well as the visit to the SOS Children Village in Isolo, Lagos. Another noteworthy achievement is her annual partnership with the Lagos State Government in planting trees to help combat global warming and other threats the environment is exposed to.
