The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has declared that Governor Ademola Adeleke should not be re-elected in the August 15, 2026 Governorship poll, citing what it described as a series of misgovernance and incompetence.
In a statement signed by Kola, Olabisi, the party’s Director of Media and Information, the APC questioned Adeleke’s academic qualification, claiming that Adeleke’s academic credentials remain controversial, with no court affirming that he meets the constitutional requirement of a minimum secondary school certificate for anyone seeking the governorship.
The APC also accused the governor of financial recklessness, stating that the State Government receives an average of N11 billion monthly and that over the past 39 months, saying Adeleke’s government had received more than N400 billion, yet developmental projects remain limited and many funds cannot be accounted for.
Highlighting opacity in governance, the APC alleged that Government officials are unable to explain the details or costs of projects, with most assignments allegedly handled by members of the governor’s family.

The statement issued by APC partly read: “The Adeleke exhibition of the culture of lawlessness is legendary as the governor is fond of disobeying the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court judgements in the local government cases. Many chieftaincy cases in courts were swept aside by the Adeleke spurious, unpopular and wicked executive orders. Awo, Igbajo, Ikirun, Iree etc are the points of references to this anomaly.
”Since over three years ago, strange practices in government: unprecedented acts that cannot be seen anywhere else have been the order of the day. The bungled wild attempts to remove the state Chief Judge, Justice Adepele Ojo from office, instigation of the local government and judicial staff to go on strike, holding of the controversial and illegal local government elections that produced purported winners without results have been acts of extreme national embarrassment to date.”
According to the party, the Osun State House of Assembly complex remains in a state of disrepair, as the State Lawmakers are living in expensive hotels scattered in Osogbo, the State capital, at the expense of the resources of the state, a situation, they opposition said denies legislators the opportunity to meet properly in their official quarters for serious meetings preceding robust proceedings in the House.
The opposition also condemned the modality for the teachers’ recruitment exercise by the Governor Adeleke-led administration which it rated as a millennium sham.
”It was also gathered that the scripted list of the recruited teachers by Governor Adeleke is more like the more you look, the less you see as the local government of origins of quite a number of the natives of Ede who also made the list have to be changed to other local government councils based on an instruction from above in order to avert the likely misgivings from the members of the public from the short-changed local government council areas”, APC noted.
