The Obidient Movement has rejected the outcome of Saturday’s Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) chairmanship election in Abuja, alleging that the victory declared for the All Progressives Congress (APC), was tainted by violence, intimidation and manipulation.
Addressing newsmen on Monday in Abuja, the group’s National Coordinator, Tanko Yunusa, described the poll as a deliberate attempt to suppress voters and undermine democratic choice.
He insisted that the declared results did not reflect the will of residents and called for an independent investigation into the conduct of the election.

The Movement disclosed that it supported the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate, Moses Paul, noting that its supporters mobilised widely in pursuit of political change.
Tanko also accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of contributing to voter apathy by restructuring polling units without sufficient public awareness, which it said left many voters unable to locate their centres.
While extending condolences to the victim’s family, the Movement urged security agencies to arrest those responsible and called for a transparent review of the election, warning that credible polls remain vital to sustaining public confidence in Nigeria’s democracy.
