Olagunsoye Oyinlola, a former Osun State governor has revealed that the current governor, Ademola Adeleke, once broke down in tears while lamenting intense pressure from the Presidency.
Oyinlola made the disclosure during an interview on Television, where he spoke on what he described as the growing burden of presidential influence on political leaders across the country.
According to him, the pressure has become unbearable even for governors within the ruling party and is contributing to the rising wave of defections to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“If you look at the communiqué, it was clearly pointed out: why should everybody be crossing over to the APC? That was the core of the discussion,” Oyinlola said.

Recounting a private conversation with Adeleke, the former governor said the Osun State helmsman openly expressed emotional distress over the situation.
“When I was discussing with him, he shed tears,” Oyinlola revealed. “How can you withstand presidential pressure? It is too much for anybody to bear, no matter who you are.”
Oyinlola warned that the mass movement of politicians into the ruling party poses a serious threat to Nigeria’s democratic balance, noting that opposition politics is rapidly losing ground amid the APC’s growing dominance.
