Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, governor of Adamawa State, has commissioned the Mayo-Belwa International Cattle Market and assessed the level of work at the upgraded Mayo-Belwa Cottage Hospital, now elevated to the status of a general hospital.
The visit formed part of the governor’s ongoing local government tour across the state. He was warmly received in Mayo-Belwa Local Government Area (LGA) by a large crowd of party loyalists and supporters.
Upon arrival, Governor Fintiri proceeded to the Mayo-Belwa Cottage Hospital for an on-the-spot assessment of ongoing construction and upgrade works at the facility. The hospital, recently upgraded to a general hospital, is expected to enhance access to quality healthcare services for residents of the area and neighboring communities.
While inaugurating the project, he expressed appreciation to the Federal Government for the partnership that led to its successful execution.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to sustaining and improving such initiatives in order to promote economic growth and improve the livelihoods of citizens.
Addressing stakeholders and residents at a town hall-style engagement, Governor Fintiri thanked the people of Mayo-Belwa for their continued support. Governor Fintiri expressed satisfaction with testimonies from residents on the positive impact of his administration, citing free education, affordable healthcare, youth empowerment initiatives, and the Fintiri Business Wallet, from which many locals have benefited.
He assured the people that his government would not relent in its efforts to improve their welfare, stressing that his tour was aimed at engaging directly with citizens, obtaining first-hand information on their needs, and responding appropriately to emerging challenges. He added that his administration has left a lasting legacy across the state and has carried everyone along, irrespective of political affiliation.
The governor also expressed optimism that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) would secure victory in all chairmanship and councillorship positions in the forthcoming local government elections, attributing this confidence to the visible impact of his administration, which he said has earned appreciation even from opposition parties.

Speaking on behalf of women in the area, Laraba Kefas applauded the Governor for reaching out to the poor through empowerment programmes such as the Fintiri Business Wallet, while urging the government to expand the initiatives to ensure greater inclusion at the grassroots.
