The Lagos State government has announced a new fee structure for the 2026 placement test, requiring private schools to pay N5,000 for each primary six pupil presented for the examination.
The state’s ministry of basic and secondary education made this known recently, stating that the e-registration for the 2026 Universal Basic Education by Continuous Assessment Scores and Placement Test will run from Monday, January 26 to Thursday, April 30.
Orunsolu Adebayo, the registrar of the Lagos State Examinations Board, who disclosed this through a circular emphasised that registration for pupils in public primary schools is free, but those in approved private schools are required to pay the sum of N5,000 per candidate through the Lagos State Central Billing System.

Adebayo explained that only Primary Six pupils in public and approved private schools across the state are eligible to participate.
Adebayo reiterated that the newly issued School Code is compulsory for all participating schools, encouraging concerned authorities to adhere strictly to the registration timeline and ensure that parents and guardians are adequately informed.
“Public primary schools are required to download the Offline Data Capturing Application from https://examsboard.lagosstate.gov.ng for registration purposes, while approved private schools must access the Board’s portal via https://pay.examboard.com.ng to complete payment and registration,” the circular stated.
He promised all stakeholders that measures have been put in place to ensure a smooth, efficient, and hitch-free registration process, reaffirming the board’s commitment to ensuring that no eligible child is left out.
