Despite making several changes to their starting line-up, the Desert Foxes asserted their authority from the opening minutes and effectively put the contest beyond reach inside the first half hour, underlining their squad depth and attacking efficiency.
Algeria dominated the first half and surged into a commanding 3–0 lead. Zineddine Belaid opened the scoring with a powerful header before Fares Chaibi produced a superb solo effort to double the advantage. Ibrahim Maza added the third with a composed finish, capping a ruthless opening display.
Equatorial Guinea showed greater resolve after the break and reduced the deficit in the 50th minute when Emilio Nsue found the net. However, Algeria’s well-organised defence remained solid, comfortably managing the game and extinguishing any hopes of a comeback.
The result confirmed Algeria’s status as Group E winners, ending the group phase with a 100 per cent win record and strong momentum heading into the knockout rounds. Equatorial Guinea, meanwhile, endured a disappointing campaign, exiting the tournament at the bottom of the group after losing all three matches.
